Staffordshire Yeomanry, Victorian 1st Pattern Officers Mess Jacket and Waistcoat.
A rare jacket and waistcoat the only one of this pattern I have ever owned after having collected to this regiment for over thirty years. Jacket of dark blue/black cloth with scarlet coloured facings to the collar and cuffs all are trimmed with either padded or flat regimental silver lace. To the front a row of silver studs that hide the hook fastners, Silver bullion epaulettes with gold bullion and red velvet crown and a gold bullion and coloured thread bath star denoting the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Trimmed to the rear of the jacket are lines of scarlet cloth ending in silver padded lace olivetts. Interior of red quilted silk now partialy shot to the waist area. The waistcoat to the front, scarlet melton cloth trimmed with regimental lace to each side of the silver studs that run down the front centre there are six areas of Austrian lace that have a silver Staffordshire Knot within each area and also to the bottom and top of each of the slash pockets. The interior with white soft linen liner.
Condition: Minor moth damage and one stud missing from lower part of the waistcoat. The photos do not do this rare uniform justice.
