25th Indian Cavalry (Frontier Force) Officer's pouch circa 1903-22.
A fine and scarce example. Scarlet melton face, edged with three quarter inch gold lace, bearing gold bullion laurel wreath with five padded blue velvet scrolls inscribed with the Regiment's battle honours "Delhiï, Lucknow, Charasia, Kabul 1879, Afghanistan 1878-80". Within the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed "Frontier Force Cavalry" with "25" above surmounted by a crown. Red Morocco covered box with ornate gilt ends and plain belt loops (one with old repair). The reverse of pouch now with moth damage, this not affecting its appearance. Minor service wear.
Raised in 1849 as 5th Punjab Cavalry and became 25th Cavalry (Frontier Force) in 1903; amalgamated with the 22nd Cavalry in 1922 as 12th Cavalry (Frontier Force).
