A fine, rare example of a post 1902 Edwardian Officer's lance cap of the 21st Lancers. The skull of black patent leather with the upper portion of light blue cloth, with gold gimp cord across the top and down the angles. To the left side is a gold bullion boss with Cypher. This supports a fire gilt plume holder and the white stitched swan feather plume. The gilt lance cap plate is mounted with silvered Royal Arms, battle honours and title scroll. Patent leather peak with gold bullion lines. Two gilt metal lion head boss’s support chin chain with velvet backing. Leather sweat band to the interior. The lance cap is in very good external condition, gilt remains bright minor fading in places. Please note that the silk lining is now absent in parts with part of the makers details still visable of Hawkes and Co.
Condition: A Helmet in untouched condition with a few very minor issues, Helmet plate stitches that hold the plate to the helmet have seperated in three places (see Image) and needs three new stitches too re-attach, one small area of congealed leather (see image). minor dulling to bullion, Plume is dusty and could use a clean.
This helmet is in a totaly unmessed with condition and deserves a 9/10
