1st Cambridgeshire Rifle Voll Corps
Pre 1901 Officers Home Pattern Service Helmet.
A very good and rare example of this blue cloth helmet,
The helmet is compete with silvered metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain.
To the front a White Metal eight pointed star the topmost star displaced by a Victorian Crown, to the centre the regimental device of a Castle and three flags, on a field of black velvet within a Garter that has a the regimental title within. To the interior a tan leather sweatband, topped with a quilted white silk helmet liner, A gold blocked Taylors stamp of ''H Kempton Army & Volunteer Contractors''. A rare maker.
This Helmet is in very good condition except two or three moth holes the largest of these is beneath the chin chain and is not seen when chin chain is worn as in photos the other two are tiny, also minor moth tracking again not noticable, about one and a half inches of the chin strap has loose stitching, two moth holes in sweat band, minor silver tarnish on the fittings otherwise a very good example.
